Maria Cordell is an accomplished information architect and project manager with extensive experience in product development. She is also a photographer and published author. Maria holds a BS in Physics, with High Honor, and an MS in Information Design and Technology, both from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Maria’s combined expertise in software development and photography place her in a strong position for conceptualizing and executing complex and visually oriented new media art projects. She is an active member of the Topological Media Lab (TML) at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she contributes to the group’s calligraphic video projects and the creation of novel physics-based instruments for engaging interactive play. In the spring of 2004, she co-authored fluids, a set of Jitter-based interactive smoke and water effects powered by a real-time Navier-Stokes equation solver. Installations featuring the work were set up in April 2004 during Georgia Tech's IDT Demo Day and at The Last Supper, a one-night interactive art installation set in an urban space. In the fall of 2004, calligraphic video work formed the foundation of Membrane, an installation designed for V2_:DEAF04 in Rotterdam. |
