The ADEPT tools are being developed under the direction of Dr. Carol Collatrella of the LCC at Georgia Tech. They are designed to help professors better understand the promotion and tenure process at research universities.
The first tool is a simulated promotion and tenure meeting in which the player is put into the position of the fourth member of a promotion and tenure committe. There the player is given the choice to attempt to influence the outcome of a meeting on the tenure of an undecided case in which bias (either because of gender, family issues, race or other factors) could become an issue that could affect the candidate's ability to become tenured. After the meeting is completed the player is then given a list of references that cover topics that came up in the meeting. The simulated meeting is being developed using Macromedia Director
The second tool is a game that simulates a professor's troubles at a research university. The player is given the ability to control how the professor should react to a series of difficult decisions that arrise during the course of his or her career. These decisions are scored and the player's proformance is then shown as they progress through the game. The Navigate your Career game is being developed in Macromedia Flash
