The Challenge
Create a compelling tabletop story experience by combining design and engineering techniques and technologies from architecture (tables & spaces) with digital and tangible media forms (computation, content, and visual arts).
Remediate content from suggested films, the feature film Clue (Lynn, 1985) or the documentary Fast, Cheap, and Out of Control (Morris, 1997) or with justification, a different film. Clue is a filmic treatment of the popular board game and as a story emphasizes spatial and puzzle-solving possibilities. Fast, Cheap, and Out of Control investigates the lives and philosophies of a mole rat expert, a robotics engineer, a lion tamer, and a topiary gardener, and is highly thematic and visually evocative.
The end product should be an interactive table for shared engagement with digital stories that will be exhibited at the end of the semester.
